Nobuo Tanaka is the Chairman of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation. He is also a visiting professor of the University of Tokyo (Graduate School of Public Policy). Mr. Tanaka’s decades of experience with energy and finance began in 1973 when he joined Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. He has also worked for the Japanese embassy in Washington, D.C., and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. He served as executive director of the International Energy Agency from 2007 to 2011. Mr. Tanaka, a Japanese national, has a degree in economics from the University of Tokyo and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio.
